Do uniforms/dress codes prevent bullying in schools?

November 10th, 2011

In my opinion I think most schools should have dress codes/uniforms. I think this because most causes of bullying is from what people wear. In fact the song called “Pumped Up Kicks” by Foster the People”All the other kids with the pumped up kicks, you’d better run their run to outrun my gun.” Is about a boy that always got bullied because he didn’t have the most popular shoes and clothes. The boy got fed up and the one day he went out in his town with a gun and shot everyone that had a brand new pair of shoes or high brand names and killed them all.

Bullying is a huge problem in school wether is about clothes, looks, popularity or personality. Most kids get bullied because they don’t have enough money to buy the most popular name brands. For example in public school in kindergarten to grade 2 its all about toys, from grade 3–5 its about the sports, and from grade 6-8 its about rumours, popularity, who has the best clothes/shoes. So basically in every grade there is competition.

Also popularity is big in bullying wether is you have lots or friends or not so many friends. Every morning u have your routine and in some point in your routine you have to pick what you are going to wear. Wether its dressy, track suit or casuals. When someone judges you more often then not they judge you on your personality but with your clothes too so if you are wearing a uniform and the other person is too they cant say anything bad about you cause they are wearing the same thing. Studies show 3 out of 5 kids that get bullied on their appearance.

I think most high schools should have uniforms/dress codes. So that no one can get made fun of because of what they are wearing. Schools that don’t have dress codes/uniform have more of isk of having bullies.

In conclusion I think most schools should have uniforms/dress codes. That’s my opinion ,what’s yours? Do you think your school should have uniforms/dress codes?

Teens in adult prison .vs. teen prison

November 4th, 2011

In my opinion teen criminals should be put in their own prison and not a adult prison. I think this because the teens could get hurt by being beat-up by the inmates, be potentially killed. The prisoners could talk the teenager into suicide, drugs or killing.

My reason is instead of being put in the prison they could just visit and see how bad it is in a adult prison. The inmates could talk to the teens about how to make right choices, and how if you get in jail it will go on your personal record for ever and your future for a job will be ruined because no company will want you to work for them.

I also think that if a teen is put in a adult prison they could be scared and not trust adults anymore. The teen could go phsycho and commit suicide from what they saw in the adult prison, because they could think that all adults are like the inmates in prison.

In conclusion I think teen criminals should be put in their own jail and not an adult prison.

What do you think?

Multi-level school or 1 level school?

November 1st, 2011

In my opinion, having a multi-level school is a great idea. I think a multi-level school at Harmony would help with space, student population, and more education by having more classrooms.

I have asked some of my classmates “Would you rather have a single level school or a multi-level school? Why? Brianna replied ” I would rather have a multi-level school because it would make us look better and more people would want to come to Harmony.”Shayne also said “A multi-level school because you have more rooms like science labs and bigger gyms.”

That was my opinion on a multi-level school at Harmony as well as Brianna and Shayne’s opinion What do you think about a multi-level school at Harmony?
